The Tricia Drucker

Memorial Fund

Origin of the Tricia Drucker Memorial Fund

Many charities have been founded after a loved one died. This fund is no different. After 45 years of marriage to me, she collapsed and died after a choir practice ten miles from home. She was pronounced dead at Wythenshawe hospital and driving home from there, I had a strange experience. I felt completely reassured by God that Tricia would be safe in his loving arms. I also believed God had work for me to do and my life which felt in ruins still had meaning. I was totally perplexed. However two days later the charity was formed and soon officially recognised by HMRC to offer Gift Aid. The Fund continues the charitable work of Tricia who had always been very active in raising funds for the poor, here and overseas.

Progress of the Fund

In the last fourteen years, the fund has provided over £47,000 for the work of numerous charities in the UK and elsewhere. Funds have largely been voluntary donations by folk who want to know their money will be spent wisely and not wasted. They are not given to charities with high admin costs or overpaid bosses! Occasional events have been held to raise money, including a strawberry tea, and a concert by a professional musician in a friend's house. Donations have also occasionally arisen from a monthly musical concert in a church in Alderley Edge. In addition to the money collected, over 1500 sacks of clothes etc have been collected to be passed on to a children's charity and a homeless charity whose vans now know their own way to my house where we sort donations. We have supported work to help young offenders turn their lives around in Hull. Overseas, we have supported literacy projects and building projects to enhance lives.
